Constructed in 1967 to prepare the French team for the Mexico City 1968 Olympics, the National Training Center of Font-Romeu is equipped with state of the art elite sports training infrastructure, accommodation and restaurant facilities for up to 140 people.
Nestled within the heart of the Pyrenees Catalans National Park, the Font-Romeu CNEA sits at an altitude of 1850 m and is situated within close proximity to the Pierre de Coubertin High School and UFRSTAPS Perpignan Sports Science Faculty.
This collective operation constitutes the
“Cité de l’Excellence Sportive – Sud de France.“
FRENCH ELITE ATHLETES
Within the charter set out by the respective sporting governing bodies for performance excellence and ratified by the Sports Minister, Athletes are selected and recruited into various National development centers (pôles) throughout France. Our center has an excellent team of highly qualified staff to provide guidance and backup services to help drive for the optimum performance levels set out on the athlete’s professional development pathway plan.
TRAINING CAMPS :
Various sporting teams and/or individuals are able to benefit from the Font-Romeu facilities, services and trained personnel, all set within an amazing natural wonderland. Individualised training programs at Altitude in state for the art facilities have been particularly appreciated by a vast number of national and international visitors.
Among the 26 Nations who chose Font-Romeu as their preparation center for the London 2012 Games, 20 Athletes were finalists and 11 athletes were medal winners.
One of the core missions of the CNEA is to walk through the reflection process in coaching and development research with aspiring or existing coaches. We have in place a number of Government accredited coaching qualification programs and Elite performance seminars.
